9,000-Year-Old Wand Carved with Faces

From Tell Qarassa in Syria, a Neolithic farming village.

The wand fragment was found in a strange graveyard where thirty bodies had been buried without their heads. On the other hand, skulls without bodies were found in and around the houses in the nearby settlement, as if they had been kept close at hand after the bodies were buried.

So it seems that these people were rather obsessed with heads.
