Whaling Art

These watercolors are by James Moore Ritchie, a seaman on the ship Hector. He painted them into the pages of the ship's logbook during a voyage it took between 1842 and 1845. The logbook is part of an exhibit called Salt Water Colors at the Providence Public Library. More at Slate.
